Project Objective:

Students will create either a shoe or skateboard design using the thematic element of movement, expressed symbolically and visually. They will begin with filling out a brainstorm worksheet, create at least 3 sketch ideas and then curate one to make the final design digitally, use the pen tool technique. Students will also be asked to use color theory to create a color palette that symbolically represents their theme and aesthetic that is targeted towards their intended market/audience.

Techniques:

● Adobe Illustrator Pen Tool techniques

● Sketch, swatch card, design layout

● Color: Color Schemes, Symbolism

● Elements and Principles: Line, Shape, Form, Color, Texture and Movement

  • Use theme of "movement" in design

  • Design board (Digitally done in Illustrator or Photopea/Photoshop)

  • Participation in final critique/design share

Pencil, Paper, Copic Marker

Concept or Theme:

Students will explore the theme of movement as it is represented visually in design, related to the act of walking or skateboarding. Design elements, themes and colors will be curated according to the artist’s intended audience (teens, adults, etc).
