The design will incorporate elements and principles of art and design in a symbolic and meaningful way, with an emphasis on composition, color theory and unity.

We will combine photography/drawing and contour drawing of one real life symbol and Photoshop techniques using appropriated/existing or digitally drawn imagery to create final design.

Concept or Theme:

Students will explore visualization of identity through symbolic representation, using symbols from their visual/popular culture, culture/family heritage and/or environment. They will do this through discussion of the history of symbolic imagery and identity representation through objects, practice of contour line drawing techniques and observational drawing using traditional and digital methods, and incorporation of ethical appropriation of imagery as needed to create imagery that will have a graphic/drawn style.
