Students will create a one point perspective drawing of their name, a room or a scene that reflects some aspect of their identity, whether symbolically or through a favorite place. Students will view different ways one point perspective is used historically throughout art and in contemporary times through animation and other artwork, and interpret how representation of place can help artists explore identity and tell a story that goes beyond character representation. Students will interpret and create works of art that represent their identity and connect with their larger visual culture through design.
Concepts of the Lesson:
The concept in this lesson deals with discovery of identity as it relates to the influence of place or environment, and how one point perspective can be used to enhance realism in environmental drawings. Students will reflect on their personal experiences to connect with their identity to create a fictional landscape or room that represents a place they would want to go.
