Students will practice lighting techniques to create dramatic, story telling portraits and combine them with a visual culture item, and then use Photoshop to color in the portraits reminiscent of a pop art style. They will practice using line, color and value to explore symbolic identity expression.

Techniques:

Adobe Photoshop techniques: New File, Image Size, Layers, Pen, Paintbrush, Selection, Text and Fill Tools, Pattern, Color and Stroke, Copy/Paste, Save File, .PSD vs. .JPG File

Concept or Theme:

Students will explore identity through the design and creation of digital pop art portraits using photography and Photoshop to combine color symbolism, shape, pattern and text, reminiscent of pop art imagery.
